Founder Story
Abraham Mmbaga, a young Tanzanian from a rural village, grew up in a low-income family where opportunities were scarce. After graduating, he faced months of unemployment, submitting countless job applications without success. At one point, he was even scammed during his job search.
Determined to change his situation, Abraham took a new approach. He began building his skills through practical, remote training, volunteering online at night while working on a farm during the day to cover internet costs. His six months of consistent effort paid off when he secured a full-time role.
With first-hand experience of how difficult the job market can be, especially for young people in underserved communities, Abraham founded Better Career—a digital platform designed to connect STEM talent with global opportunities. The platform helps job seekers find work faster and more securely, while allowing companies to discover and hire qualified talent more efficiently than through traditional methods.
To date, Better Career has connected over 30 professionals with international roles and trained more than 500 youth in market-ready skills, creating pathways to employment and long-term growth.

Amidst the prevailing job market trends in Tanzania and across Africa, we noticed a troubling pattern: individuals were settling for any available job rather than pursuing their true passions.
Witnessing countless individuals being overlooked in the recruitment process due to subjective hiring criteria, we resolved to revolutionise the hiring approach by prioritising a candidate’s ability to excel in the role, regardless of their background.
We recognized a collective yearning for fulfilling work and personal growth.
