From Zero to 1,000 Talents: The Journey of Building Better Career

In January 2025, we only had a basic website, a rough, messy-built portal. Users struggled to sign up, and honestly, it was awkward standing in front of people trying to explain something that barely worked.

But we didn’t stop there. We went back to the drawing board, rebuilt everything from the ground up, and by June 2025, we launched the first version of our new platform. It was clean, functional, and ready to welcome our first users, even though we started with zero employees and zero talent.

We experimented with every possible method to get people to sign up. Some worked, some didn’t, but every step taught us something.

How We’ve Evolved

Our early users came from our WhatsApp learning group and a few connections from LinkedIn. We began with a target of 25 new talents per week, then 50, then 100, and by the last week of our onboarding sprint, we hit 150 new sign-ups in a single week.

And today, we’re proud to say that over 1,000 talents have joined our platform.
We don’t see it as a major milestone yet, but rather a grindstone, a sign of persistence and proof that consistency pays off.

What It Took to Get Here

It wasn’t easy.
Amid busy days, my phone would ring nonstop:

“I haven’t signed up yet.”
“The sign-up link doesn’t work.”
“I didn’t receive any confirmation email.”

That’s when I realized to build a great hiring platform, I had to wear multiple hats. Not just HR or recruiter, but also IT support, tester, and product fixer.
Working hand in hand with our developers, we solved one issue after another, supporting every single talent who faced a challenge during sign-up.

Constant human support is what made all the difference.

Why the Platform Is Becoming So Useful

In just three months, we’ve earned the trust of 10+ employers across Tanzania.
Over 100 job positions have been posted, and half of them have already been filled through our platform. That 50% fill rate speaks volumes about how valuable a Better Career has become.

But we’re only getting started.
Our next target:

300,000 talents onboarded and 300 employer roles filled by December 2025.

Because recruitment isn’t just about filling positions, it’s about the quality of hires.

What We’re Solving

The reality is tough:

  • Many resumes today are AI-written, copy-pasted, or not ATS-compliant.
  • Candidates often apply for roles that don’t match their skills imagine an English teacher applying for a Medical Representative job.
  • Tanzania produces thousands of graduates each year, yet only a small portion are job-ready professionals.
  • Employers are consistently seeking candidates with 1–3 years of real experience.

This is the gap we’re closing by connecting verified, ready-to-work talent with employers who value quality over quantity.
